The Geography of Female Labor Force Participation and Information Diffusion

Female labor force participation rates exhibit spatial correlation, beyond what economic and demographic variables can explain. A model of information diffusion, where women learn from their neighbors about how maternal employment affects children, can explain the geographic facts.
